Podcasting, a hybrid word of iPod and broadcasting, is the automatic delivery of audio content over the Internet for playback on personal computers, iPods and other mp3 players. A podcast is distinguished from other media formats by the ability of users to subcribe to a 'show' and have each new podcast automatically downloaded.
It is like a radio programme except with the convenience of being able to listen to each segment whenever you choose.
For the first two free podcasts and the remaining free previews you have three options:
1. You can listen to the preview straight from the site using the provided player. Just click on the play button (This option requires a fast internet connection).
2. You can download the preview by clicking on the 'Listen to 2 min preview' link (If you want to save the preview to your computer right click on this link and choose 'Save link as' or 'Save target as').
3. You can subscribe to the 'show' (series of previews) using a podcatcher service - see below for subscription instructions.
The non-free podcasts can be purchased via the website - see next question and answer for purchase instructions.
1. Click on the 'Buy full podcast', 'Buy transcript', or 'Buy both at discounted price' link for the podcast and/or transcript you wish to purchase.
